How this site works and what drives fuel prices in Guernsey
GSY Fuel Prices is an independent, community-run site that tracks petrol and diesel prices at every forecourt across Guernsey. It is free to use and has no affiliation with any fuel supplier or retailer.
Prices are collected by hand each week, cross-referenced with known supplier update schedules, and published here so residents and visitors can compare before they fill up. The site also tracks heating oil, marine fuel, bulk diesel, and Brent Crude oil for broader context.
If you spot a price that looks wrong or out of date, you can submit a photo using the Report a Price button on the main page. Reports are reviewed and the listing is updated as quickly as possible.
Prices are verified manually. Guernsey has a relatively small number of forecourts, which makes it practical to check each one regularly.
Two main supplier groups operate on the island:
The date shown next to each forecourt is the date the price was last confirmed. Prices between update cycles are typically stable, but always check the board at the pump before filling up.
Guernsey sets its own fuel duty independently from the UK. This means pump prices in Guernsey do not move in step with mainland price changes, even when the underlying oil price shifts.
| Duty type | Rate |
|---|---|
| Guernsey road fuel duty (ppl) | 90.5p per litre |
| Guernsey RD100 (off-road diesel) | 60.5p per litre |
| Marine petrol duty | 61.4p per litre (Jan 2026) |
| Jersey road fuel duty | 63.89p per litre |
| UK fuel duty | 52.95p per litre |
Guernsey's road fuel duty is higher than the UK rate, which partly explains why pump prices here can appear elevated compared to the mainland even when the oil price is similar.
Brent Crude is the international benchmark for oil pricing. It is priced in US dollars per barrel and traded on global markets. When the oil price rises, refineries pay more to produce fuel, and that cost is eventually passed on at the pump.
The site shows the current Brent Crude price and compares it to the previous week so you can see whether the underlying oil market is rising or falling. Pump prices typically lag behind crude oil movements by a few weeks due to supply contracts and stock already in the distribution system.
